Bytelink Technologies Pty Ltd (ABN 30 671 056 572) ("we", "us", "our") operates the Plant Help mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
1. Information We Collect
Plant Help is designed to minimise data collection. We do not require accounts, logins, or personal identifiers.
- Plant photos — Photos you take or upload are sent to our server for analysis. Photos are processed in memory and are not stored after the diagnosis is returned.
- Plant context — Optional details you provide (plant type, location text, growing conditions) are used solely to improve diagnosis accuracy.
- Approximate location — If you enter a location name, we use the Open-Meteo geocoding API to fetch local weather data for your diagnosis. We do not access your device's GPS or precise location.
- Purchase information — If you subscribe to Plant Help Pro, our payment processor RevenueCat collects transaction data from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We receive an anonymous subscription status — we do not see your payment card details, name, or Apple/Google account.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
- Names, email addresses, or account credentials
- Precise GPS or device location
- Contacts, health, or fitness data
- Browsing history, search history, or usage analytics
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA/GAID) — we do not show ads
- Crash or diagnostic logs (no analytics SDK is integrated)
3. How We Use Your Information
- Diagnosis — Photos and context are sent to Google Gemini (a generative AI service) via our Firebase Cloud Functions backend to produce a plant diagnosis and fix plan.
- Weather enrichment — Location text is geocoded via Open-Meteo to add weather context to your diagnosis.
- Subscription management — RevenueCat processes subscription purchases and provides us with anonymous entitlement status so we can unlock premium features.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may process data as described in their own privacy policies:
- Google Gemini (Google LLC) — AI model used for plant diagnosis. Photos and context text are sent to Google's servers for inference. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Cloud Functions (Google LLC) — Serverless backend that processes diagnosis requests. See Firebase Privacy and Security.
- Open-Meteo — Weather and geocoding API. Only the location name you enter is sent. See Open-Meteo Terms.
- RevenueCat (RevenueCat Inc.) — Subscription and in-app purchase management. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
5. Data Retention
Photos are processed in memory and discarded immediately after the diagnosis response is generated. We do not maintain a database of user photos or diagnosis history on our servers. Diagnoses you choose to save are stored only on your device.
6. Data Security
All data transmitted between the app and our backend uses HTTPS encryption. We follow industry-standard practices to protect data during processing.
7. Children's Privacy
Plant Help is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your Rights
Because we collect minimal data and do not maintain user accounts or persistent records, there is generally no personal data to access, correct, or delete. If you have purchased a subscription, you can manage or cancel it through your device's App Store or Google Play settings.
